IIT Mandi has invited online applications for PhD admission in its School of Computing and Electrical Engineering for the upcoming academic year.
Indian Institute of Technology-Mandi (IIT-Mandi) is now inviting applications to its PhD programme from “bright and dedicated young scholars” interested in joining the part-time PhD at the School of Computing and Electrical Engineering (SCEE) under the Visvesvaraya PhD scheme. Candidates with an excellent academic record in Masters or Bachelors can be considered for the PhD.
The doctor of philosophy can be attained in the streams of Computer Science, Control Systems, Power Electronics and Drives, Power Systems, Signal Processing and Communication, and Very-large-scale integration (VLSI).
As industrial or academic institute sponsored or part-time PhD candidates are not eligible for MHRD HTRA (Ministry of Human Resource Development Half Time Teaching/Researching Assistantship) or scholarships, a one-time incentive of Rs 2,50,000 would be provided on successful completion of the PhD, the IIT Mandi website states.
Candidates with the following educational qualifications can apply for the PhD in IIT-Mandi:
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology, or a Master’s degree by Research in Engineering or Technology disciplines, with a good academic record.
- Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR-JRF/ NBHM or equivalent qualification.
- Those qualified for the award of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology with an excellent academic record may also be considered provided they satisfy certain conditions such as if they have a B.Tech degree from one of the IITs, with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 on a 10.0 point scale.
Interested and eligible candidates are required to apply online on the official IIT-Mandi website. Candidates would be required to fill the online application forms before 6 January 2020.
